Top Gainers

Top Gainers is the simplest and most immediate scanner. It shows the stocks that are up the most in today's trading session. If you want to know what is moving right now, this is the first list you open.

This is the scan Abhay uses on a daily basis. The reason is pretty obvious. Any stock that has to double has to first become a top gainer, meaning it has to move more than 4%.

What it is

A daily momentum scanner. It ranks the universe by how much each stock is up today and surfaces the ones moving the most, with enough size and liquidity that the move is real.

The exact rule

A stock qualifies when all of these are true on the latest session:

  • It is up at least 4% today.
  • Its 5-day average volume is at least 49,000 shares, should not be illiquid.
  • Its closing price is at least ₹20, so penny stocks and stale data are kept out.
  • Its market cap is at least ₹1,000 crore.

Every one of these gates exists to keep the list actionable and to filter out the phantom names that break scanners: stale bases, unadjusted splits, and illiquid micro caps.

Top Gainers has a daily AI summary, and it is one of the most useful things on the platform. Every trading day, after the market closes, it reads the whole top gainers list, finds out why each stock moved, and groups the names into themes.

Read it daily and you stay on top of what is actually happening. You see which sectors are moving, which trend is building, and which group of stocks is together telling you something. Several names in the same industry catching bids in one day is a signal. A whole theme building over a few days is a trend you want to know about early.

Reading the move

A big move today is worth understanding. The stock may be moving on a strong quarterly result, a guidance upgrade, or a sector turn. Or it may be a low-quality spike that reverts.

Do not chase a name just because it is on this list. Use the list as a starting point. Open the company, look at why it moved, and check whether the move has a story behind it before you do anything.

A good habit: add the interesting names to your watchlist and see how they perform in the coming days. A stock that gains 6% today and keeps climbing over the week is building a real move. A stock that pops and fades tells you it was noise. The watchlist lets time do the judging for you.

A few things to check when a stock appears here:

  • Is the move on high volume? A 6% up day on heavy volume is conviction. The same move on thin volume is fragile.
  • What is the stock's stage and RS rating? A Stage 2 leader making a new high on volume is a different animal from a Stage 4 stock bouncing on a dead-cat move.
  • Is it a one-day pop or the start of a run? The 7-day and 30-day history answers this.
